Kosho Visit

Recently, our school had a weekend visit from Mr. Nate England and Mr. David Hamann. We warmed up on Friday evening then had a four hour workout on Saturday afternoon.

Congratulations Mr. Richard Garrett, our newest Shodan

Tonight, Mr Richard Garrett tested and passes a rigorous examination to achieve the rank of Shodan. Sensei James McLain observed Mr. Garrett as he performed all Shuri Ryu standards, requested katas, executed over 15 self defenses, and matched each student in form sparring and kumite.

Mr. Garrett has been training at McLain’s Kosho School of Karate for nearly 9 years. He is a fierce competitor, known for powerful techniques and remarkable speed. It is an honor for all students who have been fortunate enough to have trained with him these many years. Congratulations. Mr Garrett.

Mr. William Spencer has achieved the rank of Shodan. Mr. Spencer has been a student and instructor under Sensei McLain since 1998. A native Nashvillian, he can also be found spending time his his son,  installing quality pools, and assisting Mr. McLain with his many day to day operations. No one has passed through the doors of the Kosho School who does not own Mr. Spencer tremendous gratitude for his many years of training. He is an excellent Karate-ka, an excellent father and friend. Congratulations Mr. Spencer.

Our new Shodan
